Maria is a freelance film critic and journalist, but first and foremost, a film fan. Her love of cinema started in childhood and she broke her VHS copy of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge by watching it several times a day for months at the tender age of 11. Since those days, Maria got her BA in Film and Television Studies and has been writing about film and TV since 2016 for various publications.
Maria is based in London and is a keen fan of horror cinema. She’s particularly interested in the spectacle of violence and representations of gender within the genre.
