The Online Association of Female Film Critics (OAFFC) is a network that supports the exchange of experiences, advice and strategies among online female film critics around the world.

Membership is open to all female film critics whose primary media affiliation is an online publication and whose work meets the OAFFC’s standards of quality. No writer will be denied membership on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, physical disability, ethnic heritage, age, or place of residence. There is no membership fee.

Members must show at least two years of experience in the field and must have written and published at least 100 film reviews before being considered for membership. We are seeking unique voices and perspectives in thoughtful film criticism.

Members are required to write (or record a podcast of) at least three (3) film reviews per month to maintain their status. An annual review of all members will be conducted at the end of each calendar year. Any member failing to meet the requirements will be placed on an “inactive” list for six (6) months, after which time they can either re-establish the required regularity of their reviews or they will be removed from the official roster and must reapply to be reinstated.

Members must agree to participate in the group’s annual awards voting every December.

The OAFFC does not extend membership to writers whose primary media affiliation is a traditional print publication, nor to radio and television broadcasters.

The OAFFC has one yearly application window. Qualified critics may apply to become a member during the consideration period, which begins January 1 and runs until March 31 each year. We do not accept applications at any other time.

While everyone is encouraged to apply, we will only accept a maximum of fifteen (15) new members per year. All applications are reviewed by our Membership Committee and acceptance letters will be sent via e-mail no later than June 30 of each year.
